"Just" got to get her home.... (see also post below.)I think the serial # A-23863 makes her a 1957.
Sealed bid surplus auction item from University Research Station. 10ft header got damaged when she was in a shed that was destroyed (blown apart and away) by tornado.... nothing that cannot be fixed. Known radiator leak and rebuilt engine in 87, in service up to a few years ago in test plots.
She makes a husband VERY happy and a wife (really?) mad....lol!!

Its actually a 1960..The serial #'s for 1960 models started at #23573..Nice looking machine..Too bad about the reel..

Nice A, my dad has one and 2 A2's and my grandpa had 2 C2's I learned to combine oats on the C2 and beans on the A, our A has a cab and 13 foot bean head and 2 row corn head

Too bad you're so far away. I have a later-style pickup reel off a K head that would probably bolt right on there.

Got my eyes on another A nearby...has good 12 ft header plus there are 3 or 4 headers in the fence row, may have some good metal. Wood is easily replaced...
