Got my toolbox organized

I got my new Harbor Freight tool box the other day and got all my tools into it today. I have a 309 piece mechanics tool kit, full screw driver set, and another full wrench set. All Craftsman made. I have some other hand tools that will take up some drawers but this was just some stuff i got organized what I have. Also I have some 8 point sockets... What are those used for? I have them in 1/4 3/8 7/16 1/2 and 9/16

The eight point sockets are for square nuts/bolts/studs. I use a 5/16 one all of the time to adjust the slack adjusters on truck air brakes. The 1/4 inch one will fit the old R-12 valves on the compressor.

I like that you have them all organized. Well organized tools are much easier to find/use.

Looks good so far. I really like my HF box I already added the side box with the drawers really well built for less money.

I am going to get a big set of boxes at Harbor Freight in the next month or so. I have been using little tool boxes and buckets for years. I have to build some big shelves up high on the wall for all the other junk SHMBO has accumulated over the years. I can't hardly walk through the basement now for all the "boxes" of "good" stuff. LOL

After looking at the sockets again, i realize they are not torx sockets. At first glance, i thought they were female torx. My bad.

I've looked at Harbor Freight box's and thought
the cheap ones were too tinny, and the better
ones overpriced. Menards have better box's at lower price.

Most eight point sockets are used for square nuts or pipe plugs to keep from rounding the sides off . such as oil fill or drain plugs.

had mine look like that couple time's .
got to many other users in it by times.
never polished a vehical in my live but polish my tool box .

Your box looks great. Personally I keep my sockets on the spring clip type rails, all spaced as close together as possible to have enough space to get them all in the top of the box. For everything else I've got way to many tools to get into my box to waste as much space as organizing one like yours requires....But, again, it really does look great to be able to organize one like that.........

That is real nice FF.
I really need to get an upper box one of these days. I finally got a lower roll cabinet about a year ago for bigger stuff but all my wrenches are here and there in smaller boxes or in bench drawers.

Those green ones at Menard's are pretty nice! I was checking them out last week, too. They are Mastercraft or Masterforce or something.

Fuller, how could you not use those 8 pts!?! A couple of the drains/checks on the rear end of your Farmalls come to mind right away. IIRC the brake adjusters are a square head as well, but a lot have been replaced from what I have seen.

The BEST point about well-organized tools is that when you're done with a job you can look and tell at a glance if anything's missing...found a lot of tools someone forgot under the hoods of vehicles etc in the past!
