We bought a place and there is a old international twine baler. If I read the modle it is a 56, The baler has a four cylinder engine mounted on the front. the engine still has fluid in it. Could anybody tell me if there is any value in the baler or should it be loaded for scrape iron.

I don't know anything about this particular baler, but depending on your area
there might be some value to a hobby farmer.
The smaller old tractors would be able to pull something like that but not be able to run the newer balers.

Value heck yes if nothing more then parts. Sorry to me unless there is nothing left of it there is always value as parts and I NEVER scrap a machine till it is only true scrap and that is not often. Just the engine along is a neat thing to have and if it could be made to run again will power many things

If the motor will still turn over, it certainly has at least part value. Some one might want to use it, or, and there is always the possibility (and likelihood) the motor will bolt into a tractor.

Old, he didn"t say that it was a V-4. Most of the International equipment that had an auxialry motor used an IH power unit and none of them were of the V type. All inline motors, if I remember right. Correct me if I am wrong. Tom

50T"s were just after the war and maybe some during, they were equiped with Cub or Continal engines. Dad bought one new it had a Continal, I would guess the 56 had a Cub engine.

Dad would use the neighbor's baler to bale his oat hay. It had a 4 cylinder wisconson air cooled motor. The baler was IH, and everything here was baled with wire. Stan

FIL had two #56 'motor balers'(plus a 56 pto).Used the 113ci. "A" motor.late '50/early 60s era. They were still in use long after they were worn out. They made an oddball size bale-15"x19".They were a high capacity machine.Used to pull them with an H farmall. They were pretty much a bulletproof machine.Dont junk it!It will still make bales....I still have a 55W(pto), its'semi retired' but will still make hay(100lb bricks if needed).I have no intention of getting rid of it!

There may not be a lot of financial value in it for you, but you could do someobdy else a HUGE favor by advertizing it on craigslist for it's scrap value.

A lot of us little guys still around that can't justify the newer equipment, who drool when they see something like that advertised cheaply.

For example, somebody just donated a NH super 66 to my 4H group.

I'll tell you, as rusted and broken as it is, it's worth more than its weight in gold to us.

And we don't even have it working yet!

We've got the wisconsin engine running like a top, and got the baler all timed properly. Got everything but one needle. As soon as we find one, we'll be good to go.

As they say, one man's junk is another's treasure.

Please don't scrap it!

and if anybody knows of a needle lying around...

im with the rest please dont send that thing to the scrapper, many on this site would want that to either restore and use, or for parts, to keep theirs running,

I've got a NH Super 68 that I use. Got it for 400 dollars and still think I got a great deal. Gotta pull the plunger and replace the wooden slides this fall. Anyone got a manual for it? Would love to find bth the operators and repair books for it.
