Runaway Ford | Recently,I restored a 641 ford tractor that reminded me of my grandfather's tractor.I had it in the back yard parked perpendicular to the hillside. My neighbor came over that day to admire the paint job so I placed it. in neutral and started the tractor. When I shut it down, I failed to place it in park. Long story short, the next afternoon the tractor was no were to be found.I was so sure that someone had stolen the tractor. I told her to call the sheriff. I followed the tire tacks and they lead to the ravine toward the ditch. There it was at the bottom of the ditch still upright and lodged up against the tree. My wife asked me if I parked it there and forgot that I did. I replied, hell no. There was no damaged to the tractor and it took 60 feet of chain and a four wheel drive to pull it out.
